Employment Application
- The Harford County Public Library electronic employment application must be completed when applying for employment with the library.
- The electronic employment application is accessed from the vacancy announcement.
- Each vacancy requires completion of a separate electronic employment application.
- A resume may be submitted as part of the electronic application process. Resumes are REQUIRED for select positions. The vacancy announcement will indicate whether a resume is required.
- When completing the electronic employment application, do not state “refer to resume”. The resume may be copied and pasted into applicable sections of the application.
- Please be prepared to complete the application in its entirety. The application CANNOT be saved during the application process. The application can be reviewed and printed prior to submission.

Position Requirements
- Please be sure to thoroughly read the position requirements on the vacancy announcement of the position for which you are applying.
- Applicants must meet minimum requirements.
- Applicants who received their diploma and/or degree from outside of the United States must submit a certified Education Credential Evaluation verifying the diploma/degree equates to the position requirements he/she is applying.
- If a position requires a degree or certification, a copy of your transcript(s) must be provided for all coursework completed or of your awarded certification. If selected for an interview, applicable supporting documentation will be requested as part of the interview process.
- All offers of employment are contingent on receiving appropriate documentation.
Deadline for Application
- “Closing Date” means application must be completed by the closing date given on the vacancy announcement.
- “Best Consideration Date” means applications will continue to be accepted after the best consideration date. However, preferential consideration is given to those applications completed by the best consideration date given on the vacancy announcement. The announcement will remain posted until the position is filled.

Hourly/Salaried Positions
- All hourly and salaried employees who are expected to work 500 hours or more per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30) are required to enroll in the Pension System of the State of Maryland. Enrollment requires a mandatory contribution as set by the pension system.
- All non-supervisory new hires are on probation for a period of ninety days.
- All new administrators, managers, or supervisors are on probation for a period of one year.
- All employees are hired to work for the library system and may be required to work anywhere within the system.
- Hours of work will vary according to the needs of the library with a combination of day, evening, and weekend hours.
