NEW — An always-available collection of Disney Digital Books is now accessible through the MD Digital eLibrary Consortium! Most books are interactive and read right in your web browser, while some can be downloaded to your eReader.
Look for the Disney Digital Books graphic on the left of the Consortium website.
eBooks for eKids! TumbleBook Library is a collection of animated, talking picture books that you can read, or have read to you! After you read a book, you can play a game or do a puzzle with TumblePuzzles!
Many TumbleBooks are now compatible with the iPad!
Note to parents: TumbleBook Library contains interactive, animated talking story books for preschoolers, puzzles, and games, as well as language learning audiobooks for young children. TumbleReadables includes early readers, read-along classics and chapter books. Also included are nonfiction titles and TumbleTV, shows that introduce brand new books soon to appear on the website.
Bookflix — Watch, read and learn! Read and watch a favorite storybook, and then explore facts and play games. You can also read along with the narrator!
Note to parents: Bookflix is a new online, interactive literacy resource that pairs classic video storybooks from Weston Woods with related nonfiction eBooks from Scholastic to build a love of reading and learning — online! The engaging way to link fact and fiction, Bookflix reinforce early reading skills and introduces children to a world of knowledge and exploration. Bookflix includes educational games, author biographies, and selected websites for additional learning.

Trueflix brings True Books to life — it’s a fun way to learn! Read about lots of subjects, from ancient civilizations to space or natural disasters, and watch videos, too! You’ll also find project ideas!
Note to parents: Based on the award-winning nonfiction True Books, Trueflix adds video and audio to expand the reading experience in a variety of subject areas. Trueflix contains 47 book titles in 8 categories and includes project ideas, lesson plans, activity centers, and an “explore more” section to expand opportunities for further research.

MeeGenius is a nice source of free and paid ebooks for kids. A special feature is automatic word highlighting to accompany the narration of each book. When children open the ebooks online, on an Android tablet, or on an iPad they can choose to have the story read to them or to read the story on their own. When the story is read to them each word in the story is highlighted on the page.

The Woodlands Junior School in the UK has a nice collection of links to free online talking storybooks.
International Children’s Digital Library — Read books from all over the world!
Note to parents: “The mission of the International Children’s Digital Library Foundation (ICDL Foundation) is to support the world’s children in becoming effective members of the global community — who exhibit tolerance and respect for diverse cultures, languages and ideas — by making the best in children’s literature available online free of charge.” The ICDL is a great multicultural resource with books from many countries; some are in the original language, and some are also in English.
