Just Write Author Resources

SELF-e

SELF-e makes your e-book available to thousands of readers not only through HCPL, but in other participating Maryland libraries and possibly in the Nation. Write your book, create your cover, and upload.

Just Write. Writers Conference

The Just Write. Writers Conference brings in successful regional authors to work with community writers of all levels and genres. It is held the last Sunday of September at the Bel Air Library.

Grants

Nonprofit organizations and other grant seekers searching for information on fundraising, nonprofit management, grant seeking and grant writing and related subjects have access to the Cooperating Collection of the Foundation Center of New York located in the Maryland Room of the Bel Air Library. Tthe Harford County Public Library Grant Collection consists of a comprehensive print collection and dedicated computers to access these comprehensive resources. The collection includes the following resources: The Foundation Directory Online, which profiles more than 100,000 U.S. grant makers; Foundation Grants to Individuals Online; and Philanthropy In/Sight. Oral History

Living Treasures

Over 300 oral histories have been collected from Harford County Living Treasures as recordings and transcripts of the interviews. In some cases, video or photographs are also included. These can be found in our catalog and browsed at the Bel Air Branch or requested and sent to other HCPL branches. Any Harford County resident who is at least 70 years old, and has lived in the county for at least 40 years, can be nominated as a Harford Living Treasure. Please print, complete, and mail the nomination form to the Harford County Cultural Arts Board.

Harford Voices

An oral history exhibit developed by History students at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland, United States. This website exhibits oral history video clips from interviews conducted with various individuals for a History class on the 1960s that took place during the Fall 2012 semester taught by Dr. James Karmel, Professor of History.

Tax Forms & Information

HCPL staff welcome the opportunity to assist customers in finding tax forms and instructions on the federal and Maryland state tax websites and other state tax websites.

Sailor Dial up Access

To support access for Maryland residents to the informational, educational and recreational resources of the Internet, Sailor provides free dial-up access to the Internet through participating Maryland public librarie systems. This service operates via a state-wide, toll-free telephone modem pool. Please follow the link below to our dial-up access help pages for a description of these services.

Meeting Room Rental

Meeting rooms are available for a fee at most of our branches.

Passport Acceptance Facility

The Bel Air Library processes passport applications and acts as an official Dept. of State Passport Acceptance Facility, offering services on a first come, first served basis during library hours.

Innovation Lab

The Harford County Public Library Innovation Lab at the Abingdon Library is a digital media lab that provides sixth grade through adult community members opportunities to be creators of electronic video, audio, publishing and 3D designs. The Lab is open to the public and can be reserved for special projects. Hands-on training is offered to help maximize the use of the equipment and software. Through creative experiences in the Innovation Lab, our customers develop new skills, resources, and products that help to drive Harford County's economy forward.
