Harford County Public Library’s Educational Kit Collection offers families, educators, and caregivers' hands-on tools to support early learning, creativity, and development in children of all abilities. This collection features two engaging types of kits:

Penworthy Steam-to-Go Kits

The Penworthy Steam-to-Go kits are portable, themed learning kits designed to engage children in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) through interactive, take-home exploration. Each kit is intended to spark curiosity, support hands-on learning, and make science and math concepts accessible outside the classroom.

Sensory Kits

Sensory kits include various activities and/or objects that can potentially help reduce anxiety, frustration, and/or resulting behaviors and allow people to better focus on daily tasks and activities. HCPL kits include objects that may address a variety of sensory needs. Sensory Kits are located at the Abingdon and Bel Air locations of the Harford County Public Library but can be picked up from any HCPL location.

• Can be requested from any HCPL location
• Loan Period is 3 Weeks with up to 3 renewals
• Check out limit is 1 per adult card
• The overdue fine is $2 per day, per item
