Participate in Taste of Harford

The Taste of Harford, a unique opportunity to indulge in the diverse flavors and skills of the Harford County agricultural and culinary communities, will take place rain or shine on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Vignon Manor Farm, 425 Darlington Road, Havre de Grace, MD, 21078, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Taste of Harford showcases local restaurants, caterers, bakeries, farms, breweries and wineries. Each of the participants will provide guests with a “taste” of a specialty item. All participants are encouraged to incorporate locally sourced ingredients in their recipes. The event will also feature a farmer’s market, full glasses of wine and beer for sale, live music, art and more.

Funds raised at Taste of Harford will support Library programs, resources, and services that lie beyond the County’s Library budget, encompassing vital initiatives like the Rolling Reader, refurbishment to the Bel Air, Joppa, and Aberdeen branches, and the Summer Reading program. Harford County Public Library Foundation is a 501C3 charitable organization that raises funds to augment the financial resources of Harford County Public Library.

Guests at Taste of Harford can show their support for their favorite local food and beverage businesses by casting votes for Harford County’s “Best Bite” in various categories.

In addition, the Restaurant Association of Maryland and Maryland Department of Agriculture will award a “Golden Ticket” to compete at the World Food Championships in Indianapolis to a restaurant participant featuring blue catfish as its “Best Bite.” This competition will be judged by a VIP panel of sponsors.

Also taking place during Taste of Harford, Master Chef John Shields of Gertrude’s Chesapeake Kitchen and Harford County Public Library CEO, Mary Hastler will be taping segments for an upcoming episode of “Chesapeake Farm & Bay to Table.”

Vignon Manor Farm is a beautiful venue, and most activities will occur indoors. Please note that ALL attendees, including children, must have a purchased ticket.

Vendor Participation

You are cordially invited to participate in the Taste of Harford, the ultimate buy-local culinary experience, on Sunday, May 19th from 1 pm to 4pm at Vignon Manor Farm to benefit Harford County Public Library.

This one-of-a-kind event will showcase local Harford County restaurants, wineries, breweries, and agricultural partners and is anticipated to attract more than 800 guests. Proceeds will be used to support Library programs, resources, and services accessible to all Harford County residents.

Participating restaurants, breweries, wineries, and agricultural producers will be recognized in online, print advertising, press releases, on the event website, and social media posts. In addition, participating businesses will be recognized on posters, flyers, event signage and programs, and flat screens in Harford County Public Library’s 11 branches. The marketing reach for participating businesses exceeds 700,000 views.

There is no cost for restaurants, breweries, wineries, or value-added agricultural businesses to participate, but participants are asked to provide 300 “tastes” of a specialty they would like to showcase at the event. The expense for “tastes” may be recognized as an in-kind donation to the Library. Partners will receive a letter recognizing the value of this expense, which is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

We highly encourage restaurants to incorporate locally sourced ingredients and are happy to connect restaurants with our many wonderful local agricultural producers. A “Best Bite of Harford County” Competition will be held for multiple categories at the event and determined by the popular vote of attending guests.

Partners may provide additional tastes, sell additional products (applicable by law), gift certificates, and other items at the event and distribute promotional items at their table.

In addition, the Restaurant Association of Maryland (RAM) will be awarding a “Golden Ticket” to compete at the World Food Championships in Indianapolis, IN, for the “Best Bite” featuring Blue Catfish.

All partners will be provided with a table, linens, and two chairs. Set up will begin at 9:00 AM. Partners are asked to remain at their table until 4 pm so that guests can learn more about their business.

Partners should fill out the Restaurant Partnership Inquiry form. To learn more about the Taste of Harford please contact Amber C. Shrodes at shrodes@hcplonline.org or by phone at 410.273.5600 X 6583.
